We are affiliated with Greenwich Hospital in Greenwich CT and the Maria Fareri Children's Hospital at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla NY. We also make regular referrals to our many contacts at neighboring teaching hospitals in New York City and New Haven CT.

Drs. Peter Acker, Jeff Brown, Norman Berkowitz.
Drs. Mary Versfelt, Kristen Woodard, Lauren Carton.

  • Our easy-to-reach office has regularly scheduled hours Monday through Friday.
  • Sick children with acute illness can also be seen without an appointment weekdays before the start of our regular scheduled hours. On weekend and holiday mornings, children with acute and urgent medical problems can also be seen by a physician. (See our office hours section for further information.) A physician is ALWAYS available by telephone to discuss urgent medical problems.
  • We have two designated waiting areas to minimize contact between well and sick children.
  • Consultation appointments can be scheduled to discuss behavioral and school-related issues with our physicians.
  • We encourage our many adolescent and young adult patients to remain in our practice until 21 years of age.

  • IMMUNIZATIONS FOR COMMUNITY AND H1N1 INFLUENZA (FLU SHOTS):

We are presently giving immunizations for influenza at the time of check-up exams and by appointment.

Shipments of influenza vaccine are erratic and vaccine availability may change on a daily basis. We have been working very hard to try to maintain adequate supplies for our patients. We have attempted to provide immunizations first for our patients at highest risk. Our entire staff appreciates your understanding and patience.

If we add additional hours for giving shots, they will be posted on this web page - so please check it regularly.

It is recommended that ALL children between 6 months and 18 years be immunized against influenza. Children at greatest risk for complications from influenza are those under 2 years of age, and those with serious underlying illness like asthma and diabetes.

There are practical as well as medical reasons for immunizing your child: Children with influenza are highly contagious to others and put parents, grandparents, teachers and friends at risk. Many of our patients travel during the holiday season which increases the possibility that they may fall ill while away from home. And, older children may miss important school lessons or examinations.

Please note: Infectious disease experts recommend that doctors avoid prescribing Tamiflu medicine for treatment of Swine Flu unless the patient has serious underlying illness or is sick enough to require hospitalization. Tamiflu is not effective for the regular community influenza and its use is likely to cause resistance when it is needed for complications.

Although H1N1 influenza is often called "The Deadly Swine Flu Virus" and other similar names, a patient with this type of flu is not more likely to have complications than with any other type of influenza - and it is often more mild. Increased hospitalizations are the result of more cases, not increased severity. Children make up a larger proportion of these serious cases because older patients have some limited resistance - not because children have less resistance. Overall, the incidence of severe complications in healthy individuals is VERY low.

  • ADDITIONAL PARKING FOR OUR OFFICE AT 26 RYE RIDGE PLAZA. There is a patient drop-off and limited parking opposite our office entrance at the rear of the building. We hope you enjoy the bright, cheerful environment we have created for you and your children.
